Project Description

Redwings Horse Sanctuary

The proposed works extended the existing building to provide an enlarged wedding reception venue, that enhanced the current arrangement and retained the original features of the building. It also included for a change of use to incorporate a new Café, Gift shop, Welcome Centre, along with associated out buildings and more crucially an accommodation suitable to facilitate onsite employees at all times of the day & night, who ensure the health, wellbeing and safety of the equines. The accommodation alone would maintain the site offered an accurate, efficient and timely feeding of ‘extra feed’ equines; administering medication; carrying out general routine security procedures; whilst implementing emergency procedures if required.

Within the paddocks, the new replacement Welcome Centre was supported by a new Rehoming Centre for veterinary purposes, an outdoor arena and crew yard area, a conversion to various existing outbuilding to provide an improved office space and storage facility, a new car park for 146 vehicles and an adjoining footpath which linked the Welcome Centre/Café/Gift shop all together.

Overall, the project not only enhanced the operation and facilities now made available to Redwings Horse Sanctuary, but it also raised the entire experience to help sustain the ever growing charity business within this calm surrounding landscape.
